After the big success of Loetz at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, the age of the “Phenomen” decoration started. The range of products was characterised by shimmering colours and modern shapes. Around 1904, Loetz experimented with classic shapes and took their inspiration of their decorations from historic templates.
The decoration variant “Cephalonia with patina” was a commercial failure, and the production number of those objects was very low. This fact makes these vases very asked for by collectors, and they are therefore incredibly rarely seen on the art market.
