In the 20s Karl Hagenauer took over the leadership of the Werkstatte Hagenauer. Under his management the range of goods of the artistic smith changed and adapted to the needs of the contemporary customers. Since the late 1920s the inventory was stocked up with new designs of chandeliers, mirrors and animal figurines. This depictions where strongly reduced and trivialized and partly bear resemblance to comic figures from the USA. They were used as bonnet mascots, ash stompers or as drinking-vessels. In the catalogue from the late 1920s from the Werkstatte Hagenauer a bonnet mascot with a strong resemblance to “Felix, the Cat” can be found.
These liqueur bowls were probably made in the early 1940s. Obviously their design is ajar to American comic figurines and they were used to pass on the American flair. The exquisite execution and the pristine condition make this set a magnificent addition for every collector
