Depictures of the female body were very popular motifs at the Werkstatte Hagenauer for their magnificent sculptures. Being a gymnast Franz Hagenauer’sfemale busts appeared very reduced and skinny whereas his brother Karl depictured more ample curves and naturalistic bodies. Both brother created female impressions of imposing charm and timeless power.
This semi-nude was designed by Karl Hagenauer around 1930. The lovely, shy hang of the woman’s head and the opulent hair are typical stylistic traits of Karl Hagenauer.
