Since the founding of the Wiener Werkstatte the cooperation of the designers and other traditional enterprises was ever present and very successful. Glass objects were mostly executed by Moser Karlsbad and Sons, Meyr’s Neffe in Winterberg and Johann Oertl & Co. Those Bohemian glass products show an excellent quality and a fine craftsmanship. The combination of expressive designs together with a high crafting quality granted those objects a huge success at the time around 1900. Even today every serious collection has some pieces of those special glasses.
This lidded jar was designed by Josef Hoffmann ca. 1916 and was executed in different colors. The version in violet is one of the most beautiful examples.
