The fashion department of the Wiener Werkstatte was very successful during the 1920s. The most important designers of that period were Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill and Josef Hoffmann. Until the closure of the Wiener Werkstatte, the fashion department sold pieces all over the world and was a great influencefor the haute couture at that time.
This handbag was designed by Josef Hoffmann around 1924. It is made of gold embossed goat leather with a brass frame crowned by a brass button. It is marked inside the strap with “Wiener Werk Stätte”. The bag bears the so-called “Rhombus” decoration.
