Josef Hoffmann and Gustav Siegel both worked in the atelier of Otto Wagner in the time around 1900. Many interior designs, that came from this workshop, show the style of those two important artists. These two flower-stands display style elements that were frequently used by Gustav Siegel and Josef Hoffmann. The squared braces were used by Gustav Siegel for several furniture designs and the wooden ball ornaments are typical for the taste and style of Josef Hoffmann. Like the rhombus ornament, used as a brace at the base of the stands, Hoffmann liked to use the wooden ball decoration as a harmonizing and smoothing style element.
