Starting in the 30s, the Werkstatte Hagenauer produced objects with African backgrounds. In the 50s, these objects experienced a revival and for the first time, male African sculptures were displayed and the product range of animals was widened. This beautiful giraffe dates back to the time around 1950. It shows specific style elements of the Werkstatte Hagenauer in its dynamic pose and reduced shape. Examples of these animal depictions can be found in the museum of applied arts and every major private collection. This giraffe is an eye catcher in every Art Deco collection and is a typical example of the work of the Werkstatte Hagenauer in the 50s.
