One of the most important ceramics manufacture, the Wiener Keramik, was founded by Michael Powolny and Berthold Loeffler. After pleads by Josef Hoffmann, Loeffler began to make some drafts for the Wiener Werkstatte. Besides ceramics he also designed jewelry and lidded jars. His style is marked by an enormous delicateness.
The medallion is marked with the Diana hallmark, the rose mark, the three-liner Wiener Werk Stätte, JH in a circle for Josef Hossfeld (master silversmith) and the monogram of Bertold Löffler. In the MAK, the Museum for Applied Arts in Vienna, an original draft can be found along with a photograph of the archive of the Wiener Werkstatte with the inventory numbers KI 12534-4 and WWF 94-108-13.
