Here we present an objet d'art manufactured out of 900 fine silver by the Wiener Werkstätte. The design is by Josef Hoffmann and is executed with a, for Hoffmann typical, hammered decoration. The execution is absolutely perfect, there are no visible soldered joints or other dents and therefore suffits the high production standards that the Wiener Werkstätte had set for themselfs.
According to the Viennese MAK (Museu for applied Arts) it is a silver bowl with glassinsert from 1929 produced by the Wiener Werkstätte. The last photo shows the bibliography by the MAK (Museum for Applied Art) which shows the original blueprint handdrawn by Josef Hoffmann.
Especially the 20ies were suspect of the strong financial crisis of the 1. World War and therefore very difficult for the whole economy and also for the Wiener Werkstätte. It is rare that there are pieces, made out of precious metalls, that show up on the market from that time.
