This bowl, except for the handles, was beaten out of a single piece of brass. This technique was very lavish and required a high level of craftsmanship. Additionally it is decorated with a “Hammerschlag” décor, very typical for Josef Hoffmann. Like all items made by the Wiener Werkstätte this bowl is perfectly executed and shows a high quality. The marks on the bottom show the three-liner “Wiener Werk Stätte”, the personal signet “JH” of Josef Hoffmann and the “Made in Austria” for all objects d’art that were produced by the Wiener Werkstätte after 1920.
