Rudolf Quittner (* 5. February 1871 in Troppau, Schlesien; † 3. January 1910 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) was an Austrian painter of the Impressionism.

Born in a family of factory owners he studied at the Technical University in Vienna. He first worked at the paternal fabrics company as an engineering draughtsman and then as an authorized signatory.

Even during his engineering studies Quittner spent much time with painting, after that went to the “Académie Julian” in Paris and learned under Camille Pissaro the art of landscape painting. For studying purposes he traveled almost whole Europe, the Orient and North-America (USA, Canada and Mexico). Between traveling he lived in Paris, where he was supported by Claude Monet. From 1901 he lived in Vienna. 1905 he became member of the “Genossenschaft der bildenden Künste Wiens” (assotiation of fine art Vienna).

Quittners “Oeuvre” shines with its virtuoso light and air effects, makes him a sensual landscape- and genre painter.
