Onyxvase with cold emnale painting

Vases with the Onyx decoration where the products that made the art glass studio Johann Loetz Witwe famous. Glass was processed in a special manner where the result was a semi-precious stone-like appearance. Many vases were decorated afterwards with gold and cold enamel colors around them to lend a touch of peculiarity. The production of this decoration was very difficult and time consuming, and the perfection that the artisans of Johann Loetz Witwe acquired  in the production of these vases, formed the foundation for the creation of the genus Phaenomen.

This vase was produced around 1890. She is in an excellent condition, the enamel paint shows usual signs of age. The name of the decoration is "Onyx", one of the most popular design versions of the time.
